Iphis Magazine is a queer themed literary project gathering stories for our 2023 issue.

We’re looking for stories exploring identity, but we also want stories of queer people living their lives and going on adventures. The feel of this project is largely controlled by its contributors. Be bizarre, fantastical or creepy, or just have some fun on the page!

What we accept

Flash fiction 200 - 500 words.

Short stories 750 - 1200 words.

If you have a piece you desperately want to submit that falls outside of this word count please contact us.

You can submit up to 2 stories.

Please make a note if there are any stylistic formatting choices that need to be retained. We encourage experimentation!

What we don't accept

We will not accept any story that has been shown in a paid publication. If it has been published where the author has not been renumerated in any form (eg. A personal website) please let us know where and it will be taken into consideration.

  • We will not publish Fanfiction, unless the characters are in the public domain.

  • Novel excerpts, the story must be a complete piece of fiction.

  • AI generated content, including works co-written by AI.

  • Stories with gratuitous violence, sexual abuse or erotica.

  • We won't accept anything that we think will be harmful to our reader. Submissions are open to anyone no matter your identity but they must be written sensitively.

We will contact you as soon as your piece is accepted. After the copyedit is completed we will send you an email to discuss any questions or changes. When the full edition of the magazine is released we will send you a link so you can share it with your friends and family.
